    Description

Tumblewood - A Game of Dexterity, Engineering, Strategy, and Fun

Tumblewood is 55 pieces of hand-split white birch. Each piece is 4.75 inches long, yet every piece is unique in shape because it is split with a mallet and wedge in Maine USA rather than being sawed perfectly the same, by the zillions, in China.
It is the unique shape created by this lovingly hand crafted production, and the random tapers and twists of each piece, that makes Tumblewood both beautiful to look at and hold, and more challenging to play. Each game requires a new approach, based on the pieces you have chosen to play. Stacking can go up high, or outward with counter balances and cantilevered sticks. The game can be played solo or with up to 8 or more players. It can be a co-operative game, where all try to work together to build a structure, or a competitive game, where each player tries to place a piece in such a way that it stays on the stack but make the next play more difficult. Tumblewood, in a hand made wooden box is a game that you will want to leave out to be seen and played by anyone who comes to visit. In fact, a pencil is included so that players can sign and date one of the pieces after playing. This creates a living game that becomes a record of gatherings and good fun.

    Tumblewood Rules:
    1. Place two relatively matched pieces parallel on top of the Tumblewood box, then begin to build up.
    2. Every piece above the foundation must touch at least two other pieces.
    3. There is no wrong way to play. Go for tallest, widest, most compact, most creative.
    4. Pieces may be divided equally, drawn out one at a time, or each player's piece chosen for them by the next player in rotation. Tumblewood is a creative game. Let your rules be a part of that creativity.
    Additional ways to play Tumblewood:
    • Sabotage
    • Speed of Height
    • Leaning Tower
    • On The Radio
    • Trestle Bridge
    • Low Rider
