    Description

Tore is a combinatorial abstract strategy game for two players, Red and Blue. Each player controls a set of sufficiently many stones. The game is played on a hexagonal board; hex-9 and above are recommended for competitive play, while hex-6 provides a quick game for rapid players and beginners. Experimenting with the shape and size of the board yields many playable variants. It is best enjoyed on an interactive board, automatically keeping track of the score.

A cell “sees” a stone if it is the closest one in any of the six directions. An empty cell is “dominated” by a player if it sees more of his stones than his opponent’s.

Red begins with a single action, then players alternate taking turns of two actions each. An action consists of placing a single stone on any empty cell not dominated by either player. The game ends when all empty cells are dominated. The player who dominates more cells is the winner.

The creation of Tore was inspired by Dale Walton’s Shaka.
