    Description

The Wordbuilder Set has two games for "onset and rime" [word beginnings and endings] practice.

    Initial Blends SPRING

This has a deck of 64 cards, 2 each for 32 different 2-3 letter rimes (e.g. an, ack, ing, ock), and 2 dice which have a total of 12 2-letter onsets on them (e.g. br, tr, pl, st). Players are dealt 7 cards each. The dice are rolled and players try to match either of the onsets seen with one of the rimes on a card in hand, which is discarded if successful. The first player to empty their hand wins. There are two modes: taking turns and simultaneous play.

    Wordbuilder

    The deck has:
    - 48 cards with both a word that can act as a rime (e.g. age, eat, ice, old), and 1-2 letter onset
    - 8 joker cards, each with 6 different 1-2 letter onsets
    - 8 YOU LOSE cards

Players are dealt 4-7 cards each, as agreed, and the dealer plays a word card from their hand. On their turn a player does one of these:
    - Play a word card. If there is another word card atop the discard pile, the new card's onset must make a valid word with the previous card's rime.
    - Play a joker card, such that one of its onsets makes a word with the rime on a word card atop the discard pile. Then the player may play any other card except another joker.
    - Play a YOU LOSE card, which makes the next player draw two cards and skip their turn.
    - Draw the top card of the deck.
To go out and win the hand, a player must play a YOU LOSE card along with their final card. Otherwise, if they play their final card, they draw the top of the deck.
