The Amazing Dunninger Mind Reading Game
DescriptionThis game isn't exactly played to "win", but instead players get a score in percentage points which determines their levels of telepathic powers. The percent ranges are as follows: 100% to 82%, Exceptional Telepathic Powers; 81% to 70%, Good Telepathic Powers; over 52%, Some Telepathic Powers. Points are earned by mentally reading images on game cards that other players send to you telepathically. Players move game pawns around the board along a path that goes through the "Sky Temple," "Earth Temple," "Sun Temple," and "Moon Temple". After circling the board players arrive at the "Thought Plateau", which surrounds a picture of Mr. Dunninger, the game's creator and reputed "Man with the Miracle Mind" (according to the instruction sheet). Hints are included on the instruction sheet about how to concentrate and utilize your telepathic powers. The game board is brightly colored and features Egyptian hieroglyphics throughout. Four sets of "Cycle" cards displaying letters, numbers, shapes, and colors, and four game pawns, as well as score sheets, the game board, and instructions sheet (one, double sided) complete the game. The rules are a double sided 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper. On the bottom of page 2, it states the game was "created by Joseph Dunninger," 1967 Hassenfeld Bros., Inc., Pawtucket, RI USA. The bgg data based listed Sid Sackson as the designer but this is not correct. Sid does reference it twice in his journals on 10/29/67 and 11/7/67. He writes that he thinks "The Amazing Dunninger Mind Reading Game" resembled "I Spy." Game DiscussionsAdd CommentYou need to be logged in to comment.
