    Description

Midway through the Second Punic War, the Scipio brothers commanding Rome's forces in Spain decided to open a new front against Carthage in her own backyard. They convinced King Syphax of the Masaesulian Numidians to rise in revolt. The rebellion featured three major battles: at Tispasa, 213, Syphax led his new model Numidian army to victory over a punitive expedition dispatched from Carthage, then, at Siga, 212, Hasdrubal Barca retirned from Spain and joined with the young Masinissa to rout Syphax' growing army. Finally at Tingis, 212, Masinissa cornered the retreating Syphax in the far west and defeated his hastily raised levies.
