Suomipeli: The game of Finland
DescriptionThis is the Suomi (Finland) version of the Kaupunkipelit (City Games) series. Unlike most games in the series, this one is not centered on a single city/town but rather a wider geographic area - in this case, the whole of Finland, the companies available being in many cases national and not local ones. And, unlike any other game in the series, this came in two editions that are distinctly different - a World Wildlife Fund promotional edition, and an edition celebrating Finland's 75th anniversary of independence in 1992. The box front of the latter is in portrait orientation, which is also unique in the series. Kaupunkipelit is a series of games, each of which is basically a light version of Monopoly localized to a city/region of Finland. The games promote local companies, councils, educational institutes etc. and were designed as a fund raising effort for local sports clubs. The main differences between these games and Monopoly are: -Instead of a "street" each square on the board represents a local business. Game DiscussionsAdd CommentYou need to be logged in to comment.
