Quibble
DescriptionQuibbles is a word-forming game for one, two, or more players. When the Quibble sticks are laid side by side, they join to form then lines of ten letters each. Each stick has four sides, with a different combination of ten letters on each side, so that whenever the Quibble sticks are scrambled, a new combination of letters will appear. In each game, the players form words of three letters or more from the letters appearing across the Quibble sticks. By mathematical calculation, it has been determined that there are 1,048,576 permutations possible in each line of ten letters. This represents the number of different letter combinations possible in each of the Quibble sticks. So, ten time this figure is the number of possible combinations within a game of Quibble. The players write down their words simultaneously and the scores are tallied after each round. For a faster, more vigorous game, play with 2 players and a recorder in which players call out the words. Only the first one to say a word can score for that word. Points are scored based on the length of each word written down (ex: 3 points for 3-letter word). --According to Sid Sackson's "A Gamut of Games": Ten generously sized wooden sticks have ten letters arranged vertically on each face. These are randomly formed into a square array. Variations range from finding words in a single row, up to the entire array. Game DiscussionsAdd CommentYou need to be logged in to comment.
