    Description

Everyone dreams of holidays by the sea. On the beach are beach houses, picnic baskets, colourful screens & parasols. Laughter is heard from the beach houses, while seagulls swoop & dive over the heads of sunbathers, watching for easy pickings from unwatched picnic baskets.

Mewy (Seagulls) is a fast-paced card game for two players where you create an individual tableau by creating a beach, building beach huts & keeping seagulls at bay by lobbing pebbles towards them or sending them onto your opponent’s beach. Your goal is to score as many points as possible by creating co-ordinated rows of beach huts. You can score extra points from items found under pebble tokens. Seagulls score you negative points.

Players draw 3 cards each, keep one, give one to their opponent (face down) & discard one (face down). After drafting, each player has 2 cards to place in their beach tableau (following the placement rules).

Your beach tableau has 3 rows: beach huts (top), beach (middle), seagulls (bottom). No row can be over 10 cards long. Beach hut cards must be played above a beach card & seagulls placed below a beach card, so you have to collect beach cards before you can build up your tableau. Beach cards are just sand or depict pebbles. When you play a pebble beach card you can pick up pebble tokens (which you keep face down, so you don’t know the scoring symbols underneath). Pebble tokens score you VPs at game end.

Beach huts (numbered 1-15) are placed in ascending order & score VPs when in sets of 3 different colours or sets of the same colour. Mewy (Seagull) cards are worth negative points at the end of the game, so trying to get rid of them by scaring them off using pebbles is wise but it’s a balance as some pebbles are worth more VPs than others at game end.

The game & rules are in Polish but cards are language independent.
