Manni
![]()
DescriptionManni is an Icelandic trick-taking card game and has a number of local versions, such as Trjámann, Hornafjarðarmanni and Laugavatnsmanni. "Manni" means little man or chap and is the name given to the spare hand of cards dealt to the table, which may be used to improve a player's hand. In the game, players receive a hand of cards at the start of a round, with some cards being dealt to the table to form the manni; one or more players can swap cards with the manni based on various rules depending on the exact version of the game. Each round is played under a "contract" — no trumps, the suit of the cut card as trump, avoid taking tricks — and players who do well in the contract score points, with player completing a certain number of rounds or playing until someone reaches an agreed-upon point threshold.
