Longball
Description"Longball" is a stats-driven baseball simulation in which the players draw up their lineups from contemporary (to the publication date) Major League players, then play out the game with those players' stats weighting each die roll result. At least three different editions of Longball were released. The first edition was in 1975 by Ashburn Industries and offered cards based on the 1974 season and projected 1975 rookies. The second edition was in 1977 by Skor-Mor, and offered individual cards to represent each major league player's stats. The third was in 1979 by Ashburn Industries, which consolidated the player stats into 13 double-sided Team Roster cards. The 1979 edition of Longball offers two levels of game play: the "Master" Game, an Advanced "Master" Game, and the Basic Game. Curiously, Ashburn gives the rules for the Basic Game last, reasoning, "Since the majority of the people who buy LONGBALL buy it for the ultimate in baseball accuracy, we will begin with the explanation of the Advanced 'Master' version."
