    Description

In June of 1962, Frank Morris, Clarence and John Anglin did the impossible. They escaped from the inescapable prison of Alcatraz. Or did they? Situated in San Francisco Bay, over a mile from the mainland, with icy, cold waters infested with man-eating sharks, the prison was said to be impossible for any inmate to find freedom. Over 14 previous escaped had proven that - but after their escape attempt, Morris and the Anglin brothers were never found. Many people think they escaped and had remained hidden for the rest of their lives.

Escape from the Rock is a new game designed by Adam Starkweather. From one to six players each play a prisoner that must find a way to escape from Alcatraz. The prisoners a player will play will be one of the actual convicts of the famous prison. These include such notables as AL Capone, Meyer “Mickey” Cohen, Frank Morris (who actually escaped), John Anglin (who also escaped), Robert “The Birdman” Stroud, Whitey Bulger, Creepy Karpis, Machine Gun Kelly, as well as many others. Each prisoner has a unique set of skills that will make playing that prisoner a unique experience.

The game will have a 22 by 34 inch map, two decks of 55 poker quality cards, a sheet of 5/8ths counters, dice, and a beautiful box to keep everything nice and locked up for when you aren’t playing. The game will have three general phases to the game - getting out of your cell, navigating your way to the water’s edge, and then finding a way to cross the icy waters of San Francisco Bay. The first one to escape and live to tell the tale is the winner. The game will be a wargame mechanically so this will be an ideal game to introduce the concepts of wargaming to your non-wargaming friends - have a copy of a Bulge game standing by.
