DescriptionEn Garde! is a superbly implemented 3-player version of Chess and Checkers. The tri-colour hex board has a 9 hex wide starting rank, to allow for a third bishop (for the third colour). Otherwise, rules are identical to orthodox chess. The well-defined wooden playing pieces are black, white and red, although in my set, the black (really dark brown) and red (sort-of mid brown) are a little too similar for comfort. Children who have recently learnt to play Chess will absolutely love this development and experienced adult players will relish the challenge.
