    Description

Drott is a chess like game played on a 13x13 hnefatafl board. Two opposing armies vie for victory via one of three win conditions. Either: 1. Defeat the opponent's king. 2. March the king into the castle (the center square) or 3. Invade conquer the opponent's fort. (the starting squares of the pieces).

Drott is designed to create local battles that will later impact the whole board. Therefore no pieces can move across the whole feature. Each piece is also used only once, and has unique movement. Fights are therefore dynamic and exiting.

Drott means king in old norse, and the game is lightly themed to fit the old kings of the north. The names of the pieces are, bowman, skjolding (pawns), berserker, spearman, wolf, elf, hunter, dwarf and king.

A special feature of Drott is that pieces diagonally aligned cannot be passed through, but there are two open flanks on the side. Due to the three winning conditions, draws are extremely unlikely to happen.
