    Description

In this solitaire roll-and-write game, you’ll become a conductor on the Underground Railroad, shepherding a party of self-emancipated fugitive slaves on a flight to freedom.

Designer's note: These rules apply to the standard form of the game. The system is designed to support scenarios representing individual slave narratives. Each may modify these basic rules. Played together, they offer a survey of this important literary genre, and the personal histories it sought to depict.

A game about fugitive slavery is not to be taken lightly. My intention has been to represent something of the experience of slave narratives in ludic form. I have approached my subject not as a trivial pursuit, but as an effort to explore how games may represent the most serious parts of our past. In this spirit, I invite you to play and share your thoughts.
