Battles in the East 1: Sandomierz Offensive and Bagration Stopped
DescriptionThese two battles were fought along the Vistula River as the Soviets sought to gain bridgeheads. First Ukrainian Front, having just captured Lvov (Lemberg) continued a series of offensives with the Sandomierz Offensive that gained a massive bridgehead. The Germans counterattacked with two Panzerkorps. This battle included a firefight between German King Tigers and the Soviet’s largest tanks, the JS-2.
