Aerial Attack
DescriptionProduced in the years immediately following the London Blitz and other German bombing raids on UK cities, this is a 60-space race game depicting a conflict between an unnamed "enemy," in black planes, with the red-planed defense squadron. The immediacy of war reaches into even the daily lives of common citizens, with almost every space bringing some sort of action, obstacle, or challenge to the ordinary person. Similar in design to a variation on a classical Goose game, but without the spiral format. Instead, the track of numbered circles goes from one corner to another, as with many 20th century race games. Instead of paying with traditional tokens, the makers suggest using "war bonds" (which may have come with the game). The game board and slightly revised rules are featured on pgs. 92 and 93 of Brian Love's Play the Game collection (1978). Game DiscussionsAdd CommentYou need to be logged in to comment.
