    Description

88??????? (88 Ice Cream) is a stacking dexterity game from Japan. The logo and package design resembles an American brand that boasts a lot of different flavours. In the game, there are 8 flavours customers want to be scooped onto their cone, represented in a deck of cards that are turned up one by one.

Players take turns to hold the cone (made of folded card) and place a scoop of ice cream on top. The scoops are paper slips that fold out to form a square of four walls. As they build up, the players can turn them about so they stack well. But some flavours are thicker or thinner than others, and after a few scoops, the stack is unsteady.

Each turn, a new card is turned up and the other players pull out the matching slip from the slip and make it square for the player, who takes it and adds it to the top. Then they pass it clockwise to the next player.

Any scoops that fall mean the cards in the order go to the player that dropped them. When the game ends, the player with the fewest cards is the best scooper and wins the game.

The designer recommends players buy a tub of ice cream before playing, as they will want to eat it when done.
