    Description

    Welcome to the world of Relic & Ritual! In this world, you play as a young sorcerer’s apprentice who has gotten access to a secret and powerful altar where you can claim special relics and perform arcane rituals. Capturing and placing these relics on your personal tablet opens a powerful portal which allows you to claim victory over other sorcerers’ apprentices who are attempting to do the same thing. You must focus on collecting the right relics in the right order to perform these formidable ancient rituals. The apprentice that scores the greatest number of victory points when the first portal is opened wins!

    Relic and Ritual is played over a series of turns. Players complete turns in order before the next player takes their turn. Turns proceed clockwise around the table. Turns are taken until the end game condition is met.

    A player’s turn consist of ALL of the following actions taken in this order:
    1. Activate 1x Ritual (Optional and at any point during the turn)
    2. Select an Eye (Mandatory)
    3. Sleep Walk (Optional)
    4. Jump using the Eye (Mandatory)
    5. Capture Relic(s) (Mandatory)
    6. Take Sleep Stones (Mandatory)
    Activate 1x Ritual (Optional and at any point during the turn)
    • Players’ examine their Personal Tablets to determine if they have collected enough relics to activate a ritual.
    • Players’ may then select ONE (1x) ritual to active once during their turn.
    • Players’ may active a ritual the SAME TURN they acquire the 5th relic for the row necessary to activate the ritual.
    Select an Eye (Mandatory)
    • Selecting an Eye is an action that a player MUST take on their turn.
    • This involves the player selecting an Eye that they wish to move on this turn. This can be either the “All Seeing Eye” which all players can move OR it can be the player’s Own Eye. -A player can only move EITHER the All Seeing Eye OR their Own Eye during their turn.
    Sleep Walk (Optional)
    • Sleepwalking is an OPTIONAL action that players MAY take on their turn.
    • Players may “Sleep Walk” during their turn prior to jumping and capturing pieces.
    • Movement requires the ONE Sleep Stone per Unoccupied Space moved.
    • Moves can only be completed from an Unoccupied Space to an Unoccupied Space.
    • Players may ONLY take Sleep Stones from (1x) row on their Personal Tablet during their turn (therefore the maximum number of spaces that a players can sleepwalk during their turn is 5x).
    • Players may NOT visit the same space TWICE when Sleep Walking.
    Jump Using the Eye (Mandatory)
    • Jumping is an action that each player MUST do on their turn.
    • Jumping involves moving a selected Eye in a straight line from the Occupied Space of the Eye to ANY Unoccupied Space in the straight line.
    • Players may skip over Unoccupied Spaces in a straight line.
    • Players may skip over the All Seeing Eye; other players’ Eyes; and event their second eye when jumping in a straight line.
    • Any Relics that are “jumped” over may be captured by the player.
    Capture Relic(s) (Mandatory)
    • Capturing Relics is an action that each player MUST do on their turn.
    • [Multiple Relics MAY be captured using the “Ritual of Speed.”]
    • The player MUST take the captured relic(s) and place them on their appropriate location(s) on their Tablet.
    • Relics types that have NOT been captured previously are placed in the NEXT Unoccupied Row on the Tablet.
    • Players MUST select at least ONE Relic to capture on their Jump.
    • Players MUST first select relics that are capable of being placed on their Tablets prior to prioritizing other relics.
    • If ALL options for Relics to capture would result in their Tablet being completely full then the Game Ends Immediately.
    Take Sleep Stones (Mandatory)
    • Taking Sleep Stones is an action that each player MUST do on their turn.
    • After a player has captured the Relic(s) during their jump and placed them on their board; they determine if AND how many sleep stones they must take during their turn.
    • The number of sleep stones that a player takes is based on the number of unoccupied spaces surrounding their eye.
    • An Unoccupied Space is a space that lacks either the All Seeing Eye; a Player’s Personal Eye; a Relic; or a Sleep Stone.
    • Players ADD sleep stones to their Tablet based on the number of Unoccupied Spaces around their eye.
    • It is possible that a space is completely surrounded by occupied spaces. In this case the player does not take any sleep stones.
    • Players may add sleep stones to their Tablet in ANY empty space not occupied by a relic or another sleep stone.
    • Sleep Stones on Tablets prevents the placement of relics on these spaces.
    • Sleep Stones may be removed through Sleep Walking.
    • Each Sleep Stone counts as NEGATIVE points at the end of the game based on the row where they are placed.
    • If a Player must take Sleep Stones and there are no more available spaces to place them on the Player’s Tablet; then the Game Ends Immediately.

    End of Game

    The Game Ends IMMEDIATELY when one of the following conditions occur:
    • A player’s tablet is COMPLETELY full with Relics and/or Sleep Stones. This means that all spaces are occupied by one or the other.
    • A player must take Sleep Stone(s) and there are no longer any unoccupied places for them on the Player Tablet.
    • ALL Relics on the Altar have been Captured
    • The Game Ends Immediately. No further turns are taken by any players.

    Determining a Winner

    Players’ calculate scores according to the relics they have captured according to the row the relic occupies.
    • Relics on Row 1 are worth 1 Point Each
    • Relics on Row 2 are worth 2 Points Each
    • Relics on Row 3 are worth 3 Points Each
    • Relics on Row 4 are worth 4 Points Each
    • Relics on Row 5 are worth 5 Points Each
    • Relics on Row 6 are worth 6 Points Each
    Sleep Stones count as negative points against the player.
    • Sleep Stone placement counts as negative points based on the row it occupies.
    • Sleep Stones on Row 1 are worth -1 Point Each
    • Sleep Stones on Row 2 are worth -2 Points Each
    • Sleep Stones on Row 3 are worth -3 Points Each
    • Sleep Stones on Row 4 are worth -4 Points Each
    • Sleep Stones on Row 5 are worth -5 Points Each
    • Sleep Stones on Row 6 are worth -6 Points Each

    The player with the highest score is the winner.

    Resolve ties in the following order:
    • The player with the least Sleep Stones is the Winner.
    • The player with the most Row 1 Relics is the Winner.
    • The player with the most Row 2 Relics is the Winner.
    • The player with the most Row 3 Relics is the Winner.
    • The player with the most Row 4 Relics is the Winner.
    • The player with the most Row 5 Relics is the Winner.
    • The player with the most Row 6 Relics is the Winner.
    • If the tie cannot be resolved then the victory is shared.
