    Description

Dunsany's Chess was developed by Irish author Lord Dunsany in 1942. It is an asymmetrical chess variant. One side has a standard chess army, while the other has 32 pawns. The side with a full army wins by capturing all opposing pawns. The side with the pawns wins by checkmating the King. Another variant known as Horde Chess adds four extra pawns to the side with only pawns.

In addition to offering a unique puzzle, Dunsany's Chess is good for teaching chess, since one player can observe the moves of the pieces while needing only to remember how to make pawn moves.
